FeJAL Hosts High-Level Media Women Symposium to Advance Women Leadership in the Media
Monrovia, Liberia – October 9, 2024– The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL) will this Thursday, October 10, 2024 host its High-Level Media Women Symposium aimed at charting a new course for women’s leadership and equality in the Liberian media landscape.
The symposium will also bring together distinguished speakers, panelists, media professionals, and advocates to engage in insightful discussions on empowering women in the media sector to share their experiences and insights on women’s leadership, fostering equality, and the importance of supporting female journalists.
It will also highlight findings from FeJAL’s 2nd quarter media monitoring report, shedding light on critical gender issues in media representation and participation during the reporting period and the 1st Assessment Report on the Gender Ethics Policy, evaluating the progress made in promoting gender-sensitive reporting and newsroom practices across Liberia.
This ground breaking initiative is aimed at addressing the challenges and opportunities surrounding women’s leadership in media, gender equality, and the implementation of best practices for creating a more inclusive environment for female journalists across the country.
It will also celebrate the successful completion of the Year III fellowships under the USAID Media Activity, a program that has provided critical support, training, and mentorship to emerging female journalists in Liberia.
These fellowships have equipped young women with the skills and confidence to thrive in media leadership positions and are a testament to FeJAL’s commitment to building a sustainable pipeline of female leaders in the sector.
