Join us as we celebrate another milestone of one of our outstanding and very own member Cecelia G Clarke, on her appointment as the new and official spokesperson of the Liberia National Police (LNP).

While in the role, (122), Cecelia will communicaahte and respond to inquiries from the public about the LNP and engage the public where possible.

With her experience in the media, Cecelia is well-equipped to effectively communicate important information to the public on behalf of the police force.

Her passion for justice and dedication to serving the community make her an ideal choice for this role. We are confident that Cecelia Clarke will excel in her new position and contribute significantly to promoting transparency and trust between the police force and the public.

She previously served as the Director of Television at the Liberia Broadcasting System and a Counsel-in-Training at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia (UL).

Starting as an intern announcer at Magic FM 99.3 in Buchanan back in 2014, Dekontee’s dedication and hard work have now earned her this exciting new opportunity, thus demonstrating commitment.

From producing and presenting her own program focused on issues affecting young women and girls, to now joining the newsroom at Bassa FM, Dekontee’s journey in journalism is truly inspiring.

With over eight years of practical experience in broadcasting journalism, she believes in teamwork and aims to be a top journalist in the field to inspire other young women to contribute to nation-building.

Dekontee is one of FeJAL’s  Newsroom Leaders Fellows recruited under  Year III USAID Media Activity with Internews.

Congratulations to one of FeJAL dedicated and innovative Members, Inez Reeves Soko of LUX FM Radio.

Inez is currently in Accra, Ghana, participating in the 3rd African Media Convention (AMC), which is taking place from May 15-17, 2024.

The Africa Media Convention (AMC) is an annual gathering that convenes to reflect on the fundamental role of journalism on the continent, celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom and deliberate on measures to safeguard media freedoms.

This year’s event is happening under the theme: “Enhancing freedom, innovation, and environmental sustainability in a dynamic media landscape”.

The event brings together media experts, scholars, students, journalists, journalists’ unions and associations, editors, relevant public and private sector actors, including its cooperating partners from around the African Continent.

It is organized by African Media stakeholders and the Ghana Journalists Association and the AMC Steering Committee with fundings from its partners.

The AMC has over the years played a pivotal role for the advancement of media freedom, innovation, and sustainability across the African continent thereby ensuring that the world remains a vibrant and inclusive society that promotes freedom and equality for all.

This is a great milestone for Inez and women journalists in Liberia

FeJAL is hopeful that upon your return, there will be a lot to engage with in terms of Enhancing press freedom, and environmental sustainability in the Liberian media landscape.

Congratulations to one of Liberia’s Enterprising Young Women Journalists for being recognized as one of DUBAWA’s fact-checkers across Africa.

Laymah Kollie, head of News Desk at Women’s TV-Liberia, is amongst over 40 journalists from across africa fact-checking and flagging issues around mis&disinformation as part of the DUBAWA 2024 Kwame Karikaru Fact-checking fellowship.

Laymah has produced many fact-checking contents aimed at raising awareness about conceptions, perceptions and promoting adequate advocacy for Acess to fact-checked information in Liberia.

We are proud of you, Young Leader, keep doing more in building a professional and responsible journalism society.

Congratulations Mercy! Congratulations to our esteemed colleague and FeJAL Member Dennise Nimpson of Spoon FM/TV on her selection to participate in the inaugural African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) Summit on Climate Change.

Dennise is amongst 30 journalists from across Africa currently attending the AUB in Narobi Kenya.

AUB was founded in 1962 as the Union of African National Television and Radio Organizations, an autonomous specialized agency working under the auspices of the OAU.  The AUB organization works to develop the African broadcast industry by encouraging the exchange of indigenous programming and obtaining preferential satellite tariffs for member organizations. It is a member of the World Broadcasting Unions.

This is a great feat for Dennise and a significant milestone for female journalists in Liberia.

We look forward to her continued reportage and role as climate change agent in the media landscape of Liberia.

The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL) congratulates to one of its esteemed members, Vasta Tarlue of State Radio ELBC, on her selection as the first female journalist to accompany His Excellency Joseph Nyumah Boakai, President of Liberia, and a team from the Executive Mansion on an official business trip to the United States of America.

Vasta is breaking barriers by join the Liberian President and his delegation to US-Africa Business Summit scheduled to take place in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, from May 6-9, 2024.

The US-Africa Business Summit is an annual summit event that brings together key business and government leaders from Africa and the United States of America to hold discussions, enhancing trade economic partnerships.

The event will provide a vital platform for Liberia to showcase its business potential and to explore opportunities for increased investment in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, and technology.

The delegation is expected to depart the country today, May 3, 2024.

Congratulations to our very own Rachel Kollie, a talented emerging young female journalist assigned to ECOWAS Radio, for making significant strides in her first radio appearance on Dateline Liberia!

Rachel is part of our Young Reporter Series Fellowship which aims to empower and support emerging journalists in the field of journalism.

She was recruited under the FeJAL Year III USAID Media Activity with Internews young Reporter Series Fellowship which features emerging women journalists from university level. Under the program, Rachel was seconded at the ECOWAS Radio for internship for six months to learn and understand entry level reporting of news and reporting.

Rachel’s debut on the radio showcased her dedication to storytelling and reporting on important issues in her community. We are proud of her hard work and commitment to excellence in journalism.

As Rachel continues to grow and develop her skills as a journalist, we look forward to seeing more of her impactful reporting and contributions to the media in the field of journalism.
